Abstract
Many organisations in Abuja still faced challenges in effective decision making in the organisations as a result of increasing complexity in logistics operations, growing transportation costs and delays in response time of organisation. This study, therefore, takes an interest in the impact of transportation models on the decision-making process of the firms in the PwC Abuja. In particular, the impact of transportation cost efficiency on decision quality was studied, as well as the impact of route optimization efficiency on decision speed. The research design used in this study was cross sectional design. The population of the study was 268 employees of PwC Abuja, and 192 was the sample size determined by Yamane's formula with 20% margin of error to cater for the non-response bias. A stratified sampling technique was used to get respondents across relevant departments. Structured questionnaire was used for primary data collection. The reliability of the instrument was tested using Cronbach’s alpha and content validity was used to determine the appropriateness of the instrument. The data were analysed by regression analysis with the help of SPSS version 27. The results showed that the transportation cost efficiency positively and significantly influenced the quality of decision making and route optimization efficiency positively and significantly influenced the speed of making a decision in the companies. The study showed that transportation models have a significant positive impact on the quality and timeliness of managerial decisions, thus improving the firm decision-making. The research suggested that companies need to invest in advanced transportation cost management and intelligent route optimization systems for better operational efficiency and response to decisions.
